What is Pomace Olive Oil?

Pomace Olive Oil

A pomace olive oil is obtained from refined pomace olive oil blended with a virgin olive oil.

Olive fruits, through a mechanical process, produce Virgin Olive Oil (VOO) and Pomace. Pomace is a physical, semi-solid residue left after olive oil is extracted from olive fruits. The pomace still has some oil content and is subjected to non-mechanical extraction process to obtain the oil of acceptable purity and quality.

Pomace undergoes Chemical Extraction, usually with organic solvents like hexane, to produce Crude Pomace Oil, which in turn undergoes the Refining Process to produce Refined Olive Pomace Oil. Refined Pomace Olive Oil is mixed with virgin olive oil (5-10%) to produce Olive Pomace Oil.
